The Society Salon — Melissa, TX

Balayage & Highlights

Bright blonde, soft dimension, lived-in color or something in between. At The Society Salon, balayage and highlighting services are customized around your starting point, the look you want and how much maintenance fits your lifestyle.

01

Color Designed Around You

There isn't one highlighting technique that works for everyone. Some guests want brightness from roots to ends. Others want softer dimension, a natural grow-out or just enough brightness around the face to refresh their existing color.

Our stylists consider your current color, hair condition, desired result and maintenance preferences before recommending a service. That may mean traditional foils, balayage, a combination of techniques, lowlights, root smudging, glossing or a more targeted refresh.

Not sure what to book? A complimentary color consultation gives you and your stylist an opportunity to talk through your goals and determine the right approach before your color appointment.

02

03

Balayage vs. Highlights

Balayage and highlights can both create brightness and dimension, but they describe different approaches to achieving the finished look.

Highlights

Highlights use strategically placed sections of hair to create brightness and contrast. Placement can range from a subtle partial highlight to a much brighter full-head result.

Balayage

Balayage is a technique used to create customized brightness and dimension. Depending on your starting point and desired result, your stylist may use balayage, foils or a combination of techniques to create the finished look.

That's why we focus less on forcing every guest into a specific technique and more on understanding the result you actually want.

04

Lived-In Color & Maintenance

Lived-in color is designed around softer transitions and a less obvious grow-out than a consistently bright root-to-end blonde. Strategic highlights, lowlights, root smudging and glossing can be combined to create dimension while keeping the finished result natural.

Low maintenance doesn't mean no maintenance. Tonal changes, new growth and the condition of your hair can all affect when a refresh makes sense.

How Often Should Highlights Be Refreshed?

There isn't one schedule that applies to everyone. Placement, contrast, natural hair color, gray coverage, hair growth and how much grow-out you personally like all influence timing.

Our current service menu recommends approximately 8–10 weeks for a Partial Highlight and 10–12 weeks for a Full Highlight. Your stylist may recommend something different based on your hair and desired result.
